Our Story
The original Scottish Deaf Bowls Association formed in 1947 under the old SDASA (Scottish Deaf Amateur Sports Association) umbrella until 1984 as the new Scottish Deaf Bowling Association founded as a breakaway organisation from SDASA. We have been around longer than that as the first deaf bowling clubs inter-cities match was in the late 1910s. We have 10 deaf bowling clubs affiliated to our DBS. Our bowlers' members are a mixture of deaf, hard of hearing and hearing impaired. Not all use the sign language, much more of a mixture of sign language users and hard of hearing who speak orally.
